What Financial Aid is Available for Your Bali Internship?

What Financial Aid is Available for Your Bali Internship?

·

A Bali internship costs less than you think, especially with the right financial aid. Here is how to fund it without tapping into family savings.

ERASMUS+ and equivalent programs

Despite the name, ERASMUS+ now covers internships outside Europe through specific partnerships. Check with your school administrator. Grants typically range from €350 to €700 per month for the full duration of your stay.

Many European universities also run their own international mobility scholarships independent of ERASMUS+. These can stack.

Regional grants (France specifically)

Aide à la mobilité internationale (AMI) — Offered to students on CROUS scholarships. €400 per month for 2 to 9 months.

Regional council grants — Most French regions offer additional mobility aid. Île-de-France, Occitanie, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Hauts-de-France all have dedicated programs. Amounts vary from €100 to €450 per month.

Specific university grants — Your school likely has internal aid for international internships. Business schools in particular often have partnerships that unlock funding.

Bourses from foundations and private programs

The Zellidja foundation, Mobilys, Stud.com, and similar organizations award 500-2000€ project grants specifically for international experiences. Applications usually involve a project description — a Bali internship positions you well.

Low-interest student loans

French banks (Société Générale, BNP, Crédit Agricole) offer prêt étudiant at 0-1% interest for international experiences. Repayment starts after graduation. For Bali specifically, a 4-month loan of €5,000 repaid over 24 months costs roughly €210/month.

Making your money go further

Bali costs roughly a third of what Paris costs. A €1,700/month budget covers a private studio with pool, scooter, daily meals out, and weekend trips. Compare that to €1,700 barely covering rent in central Paris.

Our advice

Apply to 4-5 funding sources in parallel. Even if you only land 2, you are covered. Start 3-4 months before your departure date. Most programs require the tripartite agreement (convention de stage) to process, which we can provide within days of confirming your match.
